Herb Explorers - Herbal Class for Students (September - Class 2)
The Mountain Trails Junior Herbalist Program is a monthly class designed to help students develop a practical understanding of herbalism, medicinal plants, and the traditional skills used to turn those plants into useful preparations.
Each class explores a different area of herbalism and is designed to build real world skills through hands on learning. Throughout the program, students may explore topics such as plant identification, herbal categories and actions, seasonal Appalachian herbs, harvesting and drying, teas and infusions, salves, poultices, glycerites, and other practical herbal preparations.
Whenever possible, we incorporate herbs grown and harvested at Mountain Trails Farm, giving students the opportunity to see, smell, taste, handle, and work directly with the plants they are learning about.
Classes are designed to stand on their own, so students are welcome to join at any point in the program. Those who attend regularly will continue building upon their knowledge and skills as they progress through the Mountain Trails Junior Herbalist Program.
All materials are included.
